2012 Summary

Monday, December 31, 2012

Hello everybody ! Hope you guys had a great Christmas ! Today is the last day of the year and since resolutions were often made and not kept nor fulfilled, I guess I shall skip the making of resolutions altogether this year. Instead, I am going to do a review/summary on the major events that happened in 2012.

To be honest, 2012 ain't as smooth sailing as I expected it to be; Lesser smiles, more responsibilities, bad friendships, poor health. But I guess these are all inevitable. As we grow older, we pick up more and more responsibilities and commitments along the way and whether you like it or not, you just got to deal with it and grow up. That's just life !

Okay enough of emo shit, here's my 2012 for you.

In January, I left my first permanent job at a forwarding company. In Febuary, my complexion broke out like crazy for whatever reasons I don't know why and for the first time in my life I spent a BOMB on an Aesthetic Treatment which thankfully worked for me. You can read the post here if you are keen but be prepared to see a ugly acne infested, oily yet dehydrated, pus-sy and inflamed face.

In March, I attended customer-turned-friend-turned-big-sister Yucui & Aidan's wedding. Near the mid of the month, my health took a major decline. Seen a doctor and was scheduled for an operation. Not a major one though, but operation just don't sound good to me la ! In April, the boyfriend and I celebrated 5 years of togetherness.

Come May, I finally embarked on my running journey after much procrastination. I also launched Smexy-Lexi the online store. Applied for an apartment with the boyfriend for the first time and despite our very lousy ballot number, we sort of got our desired unit. In June, I started to receive invitations and sponsorships to product launches; Colgate Slim Soft Toothbrush, Dove Hair Fall Rescue System. I thought things were starting to pick up for the better.

In July, the boyfriend and I visited Hong Kong, where we experienced typhoon number 10 for the first time. In August, I got into The Mother of All Fashion and became busy all over again. I also had my operation towards the end of the month. In September/October, I started accepting requests for advertorials on the blog. (1) (2) (3) (4) In November, I celebrated my 24th birthday. No fancy dinners or what nots, just a simple fare where both our dads met for the first time after 5 years of courtship.

December was the worst month of the year and I had to make decisions that would affect the rest of my life. Too many things happened in such a short period of time I don't even know how to start talking about it.

So that's my not-so-smooth 2012 for you. How was yours ? I hope 2012 has been good for you. Let me know in the comments below or in my Formspring ya ? Whatever resolutions you have set for yourself, I hope you had achieved all of them.

Before I end this post, I would like to say thank you, to all of you who had walked with me in the past, now in the present, and hopefully into the future. Wishing everyone good health and have a magical 2013 !!

SPONSORED ADVERTORIAL

We may not know it, but our skin gets exhausted and needs a little energy boost too. That's why it is important to pamper ourselves with a good mask or cream to refresh and rejuvenate our tired skin.

x
Is there really a secret to beautiful skin ?

Ever since I got back my pimple-free skin, I have never been more hardworking trying to maintain my skin at its tiptop condition. But as all of you know, I've recently got a change in job and with the rising workload and stress, my skin decided to go on strike and breakout like crazy again. To add on to my misery, we have all the year end festivities coming around, all the more I have to take extra care of my skin right ? There’s no better time to look party-ready and picture-perfect. That spells for emergency help. Instead of masking once or twice a week, why not up the ante to masking Monday to Friday with YoursTruly ?

YoursTruly, an online store owned by 6 young entrepreneurs from NYP, aims to source for products that would save our tired skin from our daily affairs. From cleansing foams, to facial masks, eye masks and even hand creams, you name it, they have it. Talk about sheet masks ! I am such a sucker for them I can never stop purchasing them. And count myself lucky ! YoursTruly generously sponsored me the Vitamin C Essence Mask from Etude House.

Essence mask for anti-wrinkled and moisturized skin with Vitamin E and Algae extract.
For those who are still new to sheet mask, here's a how-to for you:

1. Apply sheet mask to cleansed and towel dry face
2. After 15-20 minutes, remove mask and gently tap-massage face for excess essence to be absorbed.
3. There is no need to rinse and you can apply your daily skin care thereafter.

Tip: Don’t waste the remaining essence on the sheet mask. I always massage it onto to your neck or arms or rough skin areas like elbows and feet after removing it from my face.

True enough, after every masking session I can feel that my skin is super rejuvenated and hydrated. So what are you waiting for ?

Happy shopping !

APPLICATION, DECISIONS, PAYMENT

Saturday, December 15, 2012

Because I promised to blog more often, I shall do a short entry on our BTO project. For those who are still unaware or is new to my blog, my boyfriend and I had finally decided to take the plunge and apply for a flat after 5 years of togetherness.

Some of you might think, aren't you guys too rash ? Are you sure he wants to marry you ? Come to think of it, it wasn't really a rash decision. I wasn't the one who initiated the flat application anyways. We talked over our plans to apply for a flat several times since year 2011 but because most of the sales launches were areas that we considered ulu/ inaccessible and we felt that we still pretty much in love with the city area, we decided to wait until HDB releases a launch that is near where we are currently residing in.

And so, we signed up for their sms updates and have been following their sales launches every month. If you want to sign up for their updates as well, you can do so here. Finally in May 2012, McNair Towers and Bendemeer Lights have been launched and the best thing is that both projects are just a stone's throw away from both our houses. Only downside is, indicative price ranges from S$322,000 to S$401,000 for 3 rooms and S$467,000 to S$595,000 for 4 rooms, which is no joke at all.

Anyways, our queue number was horrible. We got 825 out of 888 despite having 2 additional chances. I was really disappointed and lost hope of getting our desired unit cause we've looked through both projects and their floor plans and we only have 2 desired units in McNair Towers. Given our queue number, those units would have been gone by the time it is our turn to select a unit.
