Wise Words

Monday, August 20, 2012

Came across this while blog hopping and I find it pretty meaningful so I thought I might share it with you guys.

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

- Mother Teresa

A step into a whole new world

Friday, August 17, 2012

My apologies for the lack of entries. Been a wee bit busy and the reason is that I have embarked on a NEW JOB !

It's actually something fairly different from what I used to do, an area that I've been wanting to explore but never expected myself to land into. Everything's been good so far, I have been doing a lot of hands on and learning on the go and it actually feels pretty awesome to be back to this big family and hopefully everything goes well from here onwards.

Hermès The Gift of Time

Sunday, August 12, 2012

This August, Hermès celebrates The Gift of Time - A precious ingredient in the creation of an Hermès object. Designed by Hilton McConnico, this travelling art installation encourages visitors to explore the notion of time in its various forms. Debuted in HongKong West Kowloon in June, followed by Singapore in August and it will continue in France Lille thereafter.

I came to know of this exhibition only today, which is the last day of the exhibition. Gotta count myself lucky. And so, B drove us down to Tanjong Pagar Railway Station, where The Gift of Time exhibition was held.

We begun our time journey at the origin of time, represented by a sun dial moving in an anti-clockwise direction. The horses by the side of the sun dial symbolises Hermès first ever customer - for there wouldn't be Hermès without horses.

Room number 1 - Origin of time

Room number 2 - Free time

Room number 3 - Time suspended

Room number 4 - Time balance

Room number 5 - Stroke of time

Room number 6 - Imaginary time

With that, I end my entry with a momento from Hermès .

Event : Dove + Weekend update

SPONSORED EVENT

My weekend has been eventful and amazing. Remember I mentioned that I was sponsored a full range of hair products from Dove ? Last Saturday, Dove, together with Nuffnang, lovingly arranged a private luncheon at Fullhouse, where I shared my hairfall story and also my thoughts on their latest range of products.

It was my second visit to Fullhouse and as it was a private event, I get to explore many other parts of the cafe which I didn't get to on my first visit. Fullhouse was already a very pretty place to begin with and it was further decorated with pretty pastel flowers, making the whole place look as if it is part of a wedding hall.

Anyway, I had a splendid afternoon with the selected Dove girls, chatting over tea, doing our hair and pampering ourselves with a series of awesome head and shoulder massages.

The event ended on the dot and B came to pick me up for a mini gathering with session with Angela and Waileng for some babylucas lovin' In case you're wondering, Angela and Waileng were B's poly schoolmates whom I amazingly got close to through these years.

Sunday morning was Canton Paradise with B, Xavchan and Angel. We went to the SengKang outlet and we were lucky enough to have gotten number 8 ! Bill add up to almost SGD80 for 4 so I personally think that it's decent enough for something of that standard. Didn't really take much photos at Canton Paradise cause we were all busy eating so here's some photos I ripped off the internet.

Thereafter, we went prawning at Punggol where we caught just enough prawns for prawn pasta later in the evening.

HONG KONG DIARY I #5

Wednesday, August 1, 2012

In the blink of an eye, it is Day 5 already ! As it was our last day in HongKong, we woke up exceptionally early and went to queue for Tim Ho Wan. Everyone has been raving about this michelin 1 star dimsum house.

The shop opens at 10am and because we I didn't want to waste the remaining of our HongKong time queuing, we reached the shop at 830am, hoping to be the first 20 to be seated in the first seating. Fortunately, as it was pouring, not alot of people were queuing and we were actually the second in the queue.
